Waseem Akhter says arrest of MQM workers pre-poll rigging

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Wasem Akhtar on Monday said MQM activists were being arrested for putting up flags, which was an act of pre-poll rigging, Aaj News reported.

“Banners of banned outfits are raised on different locations, while our workers are being arrested for housing banners or party flags,” he said while talking to Aaj News.

Provincial Minister for Information Nisar Khuhro had said that Karachi Operation was against criminal elements and there was no restriction on running election campaign, hence arresting political workers was not good.

Khuhro said local bodies elections were peaceful in 22 districts of Sindh and efforts were on to make elections peaceful in Karachi as well.
