WEB DESK: The rupee drifted lower against the dollar on the money market on Wednesday in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee shed three-paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 105.47 and 105.49 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee held the overnight levels in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 105.90 and Rs 106.20 respectively, and it gained further 25-paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 113.25 and Rs 114.25 respectively, they added.
In the third Asian trade, the dollar sat near a 7-month high against a basket of peers as the euro slid on expectations for the European Central Bank to ease monetary policy in December.
A decline in US Treasury yields amid investor demand for safe-haven assets capped the greenback’s advance for the time being. The dollar index was at 99.666 after touching 99.745 overnight, its highest since mid April. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 66.13, the US currency at 4.3880 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the greenback was at 6.3836 versus the Chinese yuan. Interbank buy/sell rates for the taka against the dollar on Wednesday: 78.74-78.75 (previous 78.67-78.70).

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee kept going down for another day losing against the dollar on Wednesday. The rupee lost 35 paisas for buying and selling at Rs 106.70 and Rs 107.00 against the dollar as compared with the Tuesday closing of Rs 106.35 and Rs 106.65. The rupee failed to go up and remained under pressure against the pound sterling. The pound’s buying and selling rate improved from the overnight closing of Rs 160.50 and Rs 161.00 to Rs 161.20 and Rs 161.50.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar further gained strength against the Pak rupee on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, here on Wednesday. The dollar opened at Rs 106 (buying) and Rs 106.20 (selling) against overnight value of Rs 105 (buying) and Rs 105.20 (selling). It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 106 (buying) and Rs 106.20 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling).
