PTI, JI violate ECP code of conduct: commissioner

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Saturday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) did not take permission for organizing rally, violated Election Commission of Pakistan code of conduct, and hence could be held accountable under section 144, Aaj News reported.

“PTI, JI both did not ask for permission to carry out rally, while they are also violating clear code of conduct announced by the ECP not to organize public events before local bodies elections in the city,” he said.

To a query, he did not take any responsibility to take action against the political parties and said the relevant SHO police was responsible to take action under section 144.

Chiefs of both the parties, who have made coalition in the city, are heading towards Quaid’s Mausoleum to address public gathering.
