WEB DESK: Pakistan People’s Party Senior leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim died at 76. He had been suffering from blood cancer, Aaj News reported.
Fahim passed away in a local hospital in Karachi.
Fahim, who had been under intensive care treatment in Dubai for his cancer, returned to Pakistan last month.
A veteran politician stepped into politics in 1970. He was a close ally of Benazir Bhutto during the 1990s. After being successful in the 2008 general elections, he notably stepped down from the PM candidacy for Yousaf Raza Gillani.
Fahim’s body is being transported to his hometown of Hala, where his funeral prayers will be offered in the afternoon.
Condolences started to pour in with several politicians and followers voicing their grief over the demise of the senior leader.

Over the death of Makhdum Amin Fahim, mourning day is being observed in the different cities of Sindh including Hala, Umar Kot, Islam Kot, Deplu and Matyari. Following the mourning, all small and big shops and markets have been closed since morning.
Other small cities and districts of Sindh are also observing mourning where and business and commercial activities have been stalled.
People are praying for eternal peace and tranquillity for the departed soul.
