Politics of hatred rooted in Lyari: Imran Khan

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said that politics of hatred and discrimination on the basis of ethnicity and sectarianism had halted the progress of Karachi over the past 30 years, Aaj News reported.

“I will uproot discrimination among people in Karachi. I will rebuild Karachi and Lyari,” Khan said while addressing the gathering at Kakri Ground in Lyari.

He said Lyariites had been divided into castes and ethnicity and someone else took advantage of it between the fight of Balochs and Katchis.

Khan pledged that he would unite the divided people of Karachi.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would bridge the existing divide between people of different ethnicity. He urged people not to vote for a party, whose leader was sitting abroad. “I will live and die in Pakistan,” Khan said.

The PTI chief said that God willing, he would transform Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in one year. “If I get another year, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be a different province and I won’t even need to campaign for the next elections,” he said.

He said that PTI would make Pakistan a great nation.

“Inshallah this country will, once again, be on the track to the progress when people will come to find jobs in Pakistan,” he said.

He said corporation of corrupt people was formed in the city. When Rangers extended its control over Muttahida Qaumi Movement, then Pakistan People’s Party also came out in support of MQM.

“In Karachi, police stations are sold, uniforms are sold and IG makes money,” he said.
