KARACHI: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf has said that presence of the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Diwali programme held Wednesday in the metropolis gave an important message.
He said that Islam and constitution of Pakistan give right to everyone whether he or she belongs to any religion can go to his/her holy places for worship without any fear.
He expressed these views while addressing at Diwali event organized by Ministy of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony at a local hotel here on Thursday.
He said, “We are human being and every religion gives message of love and humanity.”
He said that his ministry celebates around 10 religious events every year.
Yousaf said that ministry of religious affairs and interfaith harmony had organized “Interfaith Harmony Conferences’ in provinces and it is going to hold another one on November 30 at Quetta, to bring closer the people of different religions to interfaith harmony.
He said that due to these conferences they were getting encouraging results in the shape of today’s event, where everyone is celebrating the joy.
A Minority Commission had also been set up by the government which had the representation of all religions, he said adding that demands of minorities would be met.
Speaking on energy he said that government of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) was striving hard to resolve the issue being faced by the country.
He said that peace had been restored in the metropolis.
Chairman, Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), Siddiqul Farooque speaking on the occasion said that as a human and Pakistani joys and sorrows of ours are the same.
He said this event was giving the message that everyone had his/her own religion but being a human we all support each others.
Adding that all had to learn lessons from dislikes. He said that development works in relation to holy places of Hindu community were being done.
He said that PML-N government was making all-out efforts to provide basic facilities at tamples.
Besides others MNA and Central President PML-N Minority Wing, Dr. Roshan Panchhi, Senator Dr. Ashok Kumar, MNA Ramesh Kumar and Ms Mangla Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, tableaux and songs were also presented by Pakistan Hindu Council. The minister also announced a cash prize of Rs 500,000 for tableaux performers.
