SWAT: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reached Swat to review relief activities for earthquake victims, Aaj News reported.
Addressing the earthquake victims he extended his condolence. “By God’s grace the extent of casualties were not as much as the magnitude of the earthquake. I understand that houses get constructed again, but the lives lost can not be replaced.”
He said that the process of rehabilitating the victims had officially concluded.
Under the relief package announced, Rs 600,000 will be given to the family of each deceased and Rs 100,000 to each injured person. A sum Rs 200,000 will be given to victims who have lost a limb or any other body part.
The Prime Minister said that Rs 200,000 would also be given for the construction of completely damaged houses while Rs 100,000 each for the partially damaged houses.
A 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck northern Pakistan in October this year, killing over 250 people and injuring over 1700.
