LAHORE: Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board’s Executive Committee, Najam Sathi Friday said that the PCB had not yet received official reply of the Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) for resumption of bilateral series between the two countries.
“We have not received any answer in this regard and in my opinion the BCCI should own the MoU it’s signed with the PCB on holding the bilateral series between Pakistan and India”, he told media persons here at Gadaffi stadium.
To a question, he said if the Indian Board invites Pakistan to play in India then he would suggest the PCB Governing Board to reject the invitation.
“In 2007 and 2012 we played in India and PCB did not get any financial benefit out it and that is why if the Indian Board invites us for such a third series in India then we should reject the offer”, he asserted.
According to the MOUS signed between the two countries, India is bound to play six series with Pakistan in a eight year time period.
“We want cricket in our own country and playing the bilateral series in our own backyard will be a gate way for the resumption of international cricket in Pakistan”, Najam Sathi added.
He said batsman Umer Akmal had been asked to clarify his position through a letter written by the PCB for his alleged involvement in partying.
Umer was excluded from the Pakistan team on disciplinary grounds for the three match T20 series against England.
Umer was reported for his alleged involvement in immoral activities on the eve of the Quaid e Azam trophy match between Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and Hyderabad at Hyderabad.
“Umer has not sent his reply and PCB is also probing into the matter through its own resources”, he said adding “I don’t see any particular incident in it and situation will be cleared in a one or two days time”.
He made it clear that a clean chit on the basis of the inquiry will ensure Umar’s return in the team. Answering a question he said PCB was
in process of finalizing the title sponsors and awarding the broadcasting rights of the Pakistan Super League and the tasks are likely to completed in a week time.
