WEB DESK: The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld verdict of Balochistan Election Tribunal and issued directives to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for re-election in PB-50 Turbat. Akbar Askani had won General Elections 2013 on PML-N ticket, which was challenged by his rival Muhammad Akram Baloch of National Party before Balochistan Election Tribunal on the grounds of rigging.
After hearing the matter, the Tribunal had ruled that evidence of irregularities, fraud and rigging were found in PB-50 constituency, directing the ECP to hold re-election in the constituency, however; Askani had challenged the Tribunal’s verdict before the Supreme Court. Dismissing the appeal of Askani, a three-member bench led by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar issued directives to the ECP for re-poll in the constituency.
