MALTA: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said Pakistan was committed to make the world polio free.
“Pakistan has taken a series of actions to save future generations from the crippling disease,” he said while addressing Commonwealth Conference’s Anti Polio Drive session in Malta.
The prime minister mentioned that the country’s campaign included a strategy to have well-informed parents, dedicated network of frontline health workers, informed and supportive medical fraternity, civil society, religious leadership and media.
He said the government’s priority was to reach out to each and every child so that no child remains unvaccinated during the nationwide polio drive.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that Pakistan was able to significantly reduce the number of polio cases.
He commended the Commonwealth Secretariat for organizing the event and said that Pakistan looked forward to the support of Commonwealth in its efforts to eradicate the disease.
