WEB DESK: Pakistan jumps to number two spot in test team ranking in the world by International Cricket Council beating Australia.
Pakistan won the ranking spot when it won against England yesterday with a clean sweep. Pakistan is now ahead of India and Australia among the top four best teams in Test format.
Earlier, Misbah ul Haq revoked his decision of retirement after the victory against England.
Misbah, who has already retired from T20s and ODIs, had hinted before the Test series that it could be his last, at the age of 41.
“I just bought a little bit more time, maybe the next series is after 7-8 months, so I’ve got some time,” Misbah said.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan also met Misbah during the second Test match in Abu Dhabi and asked him not to step down from Test cricket after the series against England.
Shoaib Malik also announced his retirement during the test series.
“I am retiring from Test cricket after this match,” Malik told reporters.
“The reason of my leaving Tests is not because of slump in form but it’s because I want to give more time to my family and concentrate on the 2019 World Cup.”
Malik married Indian tennis star Sania Mirza in 2010.
