WEB DESK: November 23, 2015 marks the 32nd death anniversary of legendary Pakistani film star Waheed Murad. It has been more than 30 years since the Chocolate Hero of Pakistan departed his worldly abode. But the aura of the veteran actor is still alive in the memories of his infinite fans across the border.
Born in 1938 in Karachi, Waheed Murad was the only son of Nisar Murad, who belonged to a well respected ‘Sardar’ family. He completed his Masters in English Literature from Karachi University.
Also known as Lady killer, the actor started his film career from film “Aulaad” and has worked in more than a hundred feature films.
His film Armaan was the first one in the country which won the status of platinum jubilee. Heera aur Pather, was his first hit opposite Zeba.
Among his top-hits are Armaan, Mamta, Bahu Begum, Saaz Aur Awaz, Kaneez, Honahar, Bhiya, Jaag Utha Insaan and Dewar Bhabi.
One of the greatest actors of all times, Dilip Kumar declared Waheed Murad as the best actor Pakistan ever produced. Another subcontinent great Jatinder said that he wanted to become an actor because of Waheed Murad. Rajesh Khanna declared him the best actor in Asia after watching his movie Shamma.
Honored with several accolades, Murad made his name in an era of great actors.He also was a style icon and people of his era used to copy his dress sense and hair style.
In connection to the event, a memorial will be held by Waheed Murad lovers at the Lahore Press Club to pay him tributes.
