Hizb ut Tahrir chief arrested

KARACHI: The head of a banned group in Karachi has been arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Department of police, Aaj News reported.

According to the SSP Usman Bajwa, “We have arrested Siham Qamar, Ameer of Hizbul Tahrir (HuT) – Karachi branch, from Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.”

The suspect was employee of K-Electric Company, he said.

According to Bajwa, Siham Qamar was involved in propagating his group’s ideology in the city’s colleges and other educational institutes.

For further interrogation, he has been shifted to undisclosed location.
