WEB DESK: Four Rangers’ personnel, who were performing guard duties outside a mosque in Ittehad Town, Baldia, were shot dead by some unidentified assailants.
According to officials, three motorcyclists opened indiscriminate firing on a Rangers’ mobile near Ittehad Town’s Abu Hurairah mosque and fled from the scene, leaving four paramilitary troops fatally injured.
The victims were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and a private hospital but they succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Shortly after the tragic incident, heavy contingent of police and Rangers arrived at the crime-scene, cordoned off the area and collected evidences from there.
Sindh Rangers director general Major General Bilal Akbar told media at the crime-scene that the mosque and its seminary where heinous crime occurred could be the target of the terrorists, but the Rangers personnel thwarted their designs and embraced martyrdom. Namaz-i-Janaza of the Rangers personnel, who became victim of a foiled terrorist attack on the mosque and its seminary, was offered at Rangers Training School and College, near Toll Plaza on Superhighway. It may be pointed out here that four Rangers’ soldiers were killed in March, 2014 when a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle had rammed into their patrolling van.
