KARACHI: Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan Babar Yaqoob has on Saturday summoned 20 companies of Army in Karachi for local bodies elections which are just around the corner.
“Sensing the need, Rangers could be posted inside polling stations,” said Yaqoob while briefing the media.
He said 1, 791 sensitive locations in different areas existed in Karachi which include Landhi, Korangi, Ibrahim Hyderi and Shahra-e-Faisal. While, the most sensitive locations include Lines Area, Landhi, Lyari, Khokhrapar and Ghas Mandi.
The secretary ECP said request was sent for deployment of Army for local bodies elections. Weapon licenses would also be suspended during the elections.
He said Chehlam had nothing to do with elections on 5 December.
