WEBDESK: Modest recovery was seen in the value of the rupee against the dollar on the money market on Thursday in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee picked up six-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 104.41 and Rs 104.43 respectively, they said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee depicted no change in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 104.40 and Rs 104.60 respectively, however it gained 25-paisa in relation to the euro for buying and selling at Rs 117.00 and Rs 118.00 respectively, they added.
In the fourth Asian trade, the dollar eased against the yen on Thursday, struggling to gain traction as investors were waiting the minutes of last Federal Reserve meeting for clues on monetary policy. Although Shanghai shares climbed 3.4 percent as Chinese markets resumed trade after being on holiday since the start of the month, risk sentiment was subdued overall with US equity futures slipping 0.7 percent.
The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 65.12, the greenback was at 4.2180 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was available at 6.3510 versus the Chinese yuan. Inter bank buy/sell rates for the taka against the dollar on Thursday: 77.80-77.80 (previous 77.80-77.80): 05.30-06.50 percent (Previous 05.25-06.50 percent).

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee showed weakness against the dollar and British pound at the open currency markets of Lahore on Wednesday.
Currency dealers said the dollar resumed trading at Rs 104.65 and Rs 105.00 on the buying and selling counters, respectively, as against Rs 104.65 and Rs 105.10 on Tuesday. The dollar appreciated its worth following fresh buying activity and was closed at Rs 104.70 and Rs 104.95 on the buying and selling counters, respectively. However, some of the dealers quoted selling rate of the dollar as Rs 105.05.
The pound also appreciated its worth against the local currency, which was purchased and sold at Rs 159.00 and Rs 159.60 as against Tuesday’s closing rates of Rs 158.30 and Rs 159.50, the dealers added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday.
The dollar opened at Rs 104 (buying) and Rs 104.25 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 104 (buying) and Rs 104.25 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling).
