MULTAN: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday arrested former Vice Chancellor of Multan’s Bahauddin Zakaria University (BZU) for irregularities and violation of rules for the establishment of a university’s sub-campus in Lahore.
NAB spokesman said that he was arrested from his Multan residence. The former VC Professor Dr Khawaja Alqama along with Lahore campus director Hamza Munir were arrested on the charges of misuse of authority and cheating public at large after the establishment of an ‘illegal’ sub-campus in Lahore.
He said that Khawaja Alqama along with Registrar Malik Munir Hussain, proprietors of West Continental Group Munir Bhatti & his son Hamza Munir, in connivance with each other opened a BZU sub-campus in Lahore without getting approval from the University Syndicate and a no-objection certificate from the Higher Education Commission. While the admission advertisement published in the press had said HEC recognised degree to allure students.
