ISLAMABAD: Muslims around the world marked Yaum-e-Umar (R.A). in respect of the second Righteous Caliph of Islam, Hazrat Umar (R.A), Aaj News reported.
To mark the martyrdom of Hazrat Umar Farooq, Sindh govt has announced a public holiday on 1st Muharram.
Seminars and conferences are held on first of Muharram to highlight events from the life of Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA).
If we want to describe Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A), sagacious, wise, just and mighty will be the perfect adjectives. As a follower of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) he was a dedicated person who never fell short of demonstrating his commitment towards Islam and its final Messenger.
As a Muslim, he feared God and often wept at the mention of the Day of Judgment. As a ruler and administrator, his reforms and policies have stood the test of time and were the cause of Muslims’ dominance over other communities.
By profession, he was a businessman. During the early days of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s mission, Hazart Umar (R.A) was against Islam.
After he read a verse from Surah Taha, Hazrat Umar (R.A) converted to Islam. Regarding Hazrat Umar’s (R.A) conversion to Islam, it is said that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had prayed to God and said the following words:-
“O Allah, strengthen Islam by Abul Hakam (Abu Jahl) or ‘Umar Ibn al-Khattab.’
Hazrat Umar (R.A) martyred as a result of the wounds inflicted from a knife attack by a man named Abu Lulu Feroze. He had a personal grudge against Hazrat Umar (R.A).
