KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Health, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has ordered stringent action against unauthorized nursing school functional in the province.
Chairing a meeting here Wednesday the minister responding to reports about fake nursing schools being run by unscrupulous elements said government would initiate stern action against elements exploiting the issue of nurses’ shortage in the province.
“This is our responsibility to not only protect the interest of unassuming youth seeking admissions to these school but also protect the healthcare system,” said the minister asking concerned officials to submit a detailed report to him in next 15 days time.
Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on this occasion also took strong exception to questionable performance of the drug inspectors associated with the provincial health department.
“How is it that spurious medicines are easily available even in Karachi what to talk of small towns despite presence of drug inspectors,” said the minister.
He said stringent action will be taken against personnel failing to realize their professional obligations and resorting to lethargic approach at the cost of precious human lives.
The meeting among others was also attended by Special Secretary for Health, Dr. Riaz Memon and Additional Secretary for Health, Dabeer Ahmed.
