KARACHI: Bilal Ahmed, 36, resident of Surjani Town succumbed to Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever at Civil Hospital here on Tuesday, said Dr. Masood Solangi, In-charge Dengue Prevention Control Cell for Sindh, Aaj News reported.
During the current year, he said 2258 cases of dengue fever were registered in the province including 2203 in Karachi only and 55 from other districts.
The ailment, he said is largely self limiting with high rate of recovery, however, it may turn into hemorrhagic fever if timely and often simple interventions are not taken.
Meanwhile provincial health department sources have also confirmed a fresh case of Naegleria in the metropolis with Naeem, 22, resident of Baldia Town, being the latest victim.
At least 14 patients inflicted with Naegleria were confirmed to have died of the water contaminated by amoeba, damaging the human brain via nasal route.
