ISLAMABAD: Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), in its operations against drug trafficking, has recovered 1099 kg drugs worth Rs 1.1 billion in international market.
The drugs recovered in nine (9) countrywide operations included 15.02 kg heroin, 700 kg opium and 384.6 kg hashish while five (5) lady smugglers among 11 drug offenders were apprehended with seizure of two vehicles.
As per details provided here on Friday, the ANF Balochistan while acting upon an intelligence report intercepted a Toyota Land Cruiser near Soah Reg, Tehsil Nokundi, District Chaghi. However, the persons on board managed to flee from scene, taking advantage of the darkness after exchange of fire.
Search of the vehicle resulted in seizure of 700 kg opium concealed in improvised cavities of the vehicle.
According to preliminary information, the drug was to be transported to some foreign location after being shifted to some safe location at coastal belt.
In another operation, ANF Quetta Road Check Team on pursuance of an information stopped a passenger vehicle at Quetta Chaman Road near Kuchlak Pass after chase.
However, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the scene.
The detailed search of the vehicle led to recovery of 379 kg charas concealed beneath seats of the vehicle and in improvised cavities of the vehicle.
Moreover, the ANF Rawalpindi in pursuance of source information seized a Toyota Corolla car near Faizabad, Murree Road, Rawalpindi, and recovered 2.62 kg heroin from personal possession of a person onboard identified as Abdul Aziz resident of Rawalpindi.
As per initial reports, he was involved in supply of drugs at local level.
The ANF Rawalpindi in another operation, arrested a local lady drug peddler identified as Benazir Bibi at Main Bus Stop, Rawat, Rawalpindi and recovered 400 grams heroin from her personal possession.
Yet in another operation, the ANF Rawalpindi Road Check Team during search of a passenger van near Tarakai Toll Plaza, Jhelum detained two (2) passengers namely Muhammad Bilal resident of Mardan and Asad Ali resident of Swabi along with 5 kg charas concealed in their passenger bags.
In fourth operation carried out near PSO Petrol Pump situated near Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, the ANF arrested a local drug peddler identified as Taufeeq along with 500 grams heroin.
In another operation, the ANF Lahore Road Check Team on search of a passenger bus near Balkasar Motorway Interchange, Talagang,Chakwal recovered one (1) kg heroin from personal possession of two (2) passengers identified as Muhammad Ejaz and Malik Shoukat Ali residents of Khushab.
Similarly, the ANF Peshawar while acting on a tip-off stopped a Rawalpindi bound passenger van near Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and arrested two (2) lady drug traffickers named Rukhsana and Nasreen Bibi residents of Khyber Agency along with 5.5 kg heroin found in their luggage.
As per information, they were proceeding to Rawalpindi for delivery of drug to some local suppliers.
The ANF Peshawar in another operation, apprehended two (2) lady smugglers namely Tahira Shamim and Fatima residents of Lahore near Rashakai Motorway Interchange and recovered five (5) kg heroin from their hand bags.
They were travelling in a passenger van bound for Rawalpindi.
All cases have been registered at ANF Police Stations and further investigations are in progress.
