WEB DESK: Dressed to their best, acid burn victims walked the ramp at a one-of-a-kind event in Agra which aimed to raise awareness about the heinous crime.
Near the beautiful Taj Mahal, a cafe run completely by victims of acid attacks organized the fashion walk. A leading international brand sponsored it.
On Friday the acid victims walked on the ramp to show the world they are not embers but able to compete with the world because their beauty lies in their souls.
“People think that acid attack victims are from the outer world. Sheroes [the cafe] is an effort to make them believe that they are from this world only. Since we as a society are responsible for their scars, it is our responsibility to fix it and bring them into the mainstream of society.” Ashish Shukla, a lead campaigner for Stop Acid Attacks said.
“Earlier, I used to cover my face with a scarf but not any more. Though I never gave up on my dream, I did not think that it would be possible one day.” she said.
