WEB DESK: We know that the ultraviolet rays can cause skin cancer and wrinkles on skin. But sunlight is also important to improve health. Some researches show that sunlight has both positive and negative affects to health.
“One American dies every hour from skin cancer and the overwhelming majority of these cancers are caused by overexposure to UV light—there’s no question about that,” says Darrell Rigel, MD, clinical professor of dermatology at New York University.
“But that doesn’t mean you should stay inside all the day. Here what you need to know so you can make choices when you step outside.
This feel-good brain chemical, serotonin is released in the sunlight more, than in the shade and it helps you improve your mood swings.
2. Vitamin D
Studies at the University of California in 2015 concluded that rates of pancreatic cancer is the 12th most common cancer in the world.
Sunlight is an essential part of human health so if you’re living at high latitude and you can’t make vitamin D most of the year you will be in a higher risk of getting pancreatic cancer”
4. Blood Pressure
Sunlight helps to release nitric oxide in the skin which is absorbed into the bloodstream and widens blood vessels and lower the pressure inside them.
So exposing your skin to sunlight helps reduce blood pressure and lowers the risk of heart stroke, a study published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology suggested.
