ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said that operation Zarb-e-Azb was progressing successfully toward its final phase.
“All areas of the country including tribal region have been cleared of terrorists and the situation would be completely brought under control in the next few months which would be beneficial for Pakistan, countries of the region and the Islamic countries,” he said during a luncheon hosted in the honour of ambassadors from Middle Eastern countries here at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The President stated that relations with Islamic countries were the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy and Pakistan desired that expertise of Islamic countries in different areas should be utilized for mutual benefit.
In this regard, he said Pakistan was ready to extend every possible cooperation to brotherly Islamic countries.
He noted that the current trade between Pakistan and Islamic countries stood at US $ 19 billion adding that it was far below of its true potential and emphasized that its enhancement was need of the hour.
He further said that for this reason exchange of delegations of traders and industrialists should continue amongst Islamic countries.
President Mamnoon highlighted that an Islamic Summit on Science and Technology under the auspices of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) would be held in Islamabad in November this year.
In the conference, measures to promote science and technology in the Islamic world would come under consideration besides exchanging ideas on challenges confronting Muslim countries.
He underscored that the Muslim countries should adopt a common strategy to address the challenges faced by them and impress upon the world that Muslims were peaceful people who are desirous of peace in the whole world.
The President stated that the Palestinian and Kashmiri people were waging struggle for their just rights adding that Pakistan fully supported their struggle.
He added that Pakistan would continue its diplomatic and political efforts for resolution of the problems of oppressed Kashmiri and Palestinian people.
