ISLAMABAD: A total of 13 Pakistani intending pilgrims including three women have so far died in Saudi Arabia, said an official of Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.
In a statement, he said 11 pilgrims died in Makkah and two in Madina. The deceased who expired in Madina were laid to rest in Janah-tul-Baqi and the others in Makkah.
The government would pay Rs500,000 each to the legal heirs of the deceased pilgrims, the statement said. Director General Hajj Abu Akif, Additional Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs Sajid Yousfani and Joint Secretary Noor Zaman visited the residences of the deceased and expressed condolence with the bereaved families.
