ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced a relief package for farmers worth Rs341 billion.
He addressed several hundred farmers at the Kissan Convention held at Islamabad today.
The relief package is divided in four parts;the first part includes direct financial cooperation for farmers, second brings relief in agricultural costs, third provides agricultural loans and fourth facilitates the process of obtaining loans.
All small rice farmers will be provided a subsidy of Rs 5000 per acre.
The PM said that due to the recent floods cotton growth suffered a setback, and so cotton growers will also receive a Rs5000 subsidy.
