Heavy downpour claims lives of 5, injures 25

PESHAWAR: Heavy downpour coupled with gusty winds claimed lives of five people and injured 25 others in the district late Wednesday night.

According to police and hospital sources, the deaths occurred due to roof collapses mostly in rural areas.

In Urmarh, two real brothers Asad, Awais and their sister Tasleem, children of Abdul Razzaq died due to roof collapse.

In Jhagra village Manzoor, son of Ikram was killed in roof collapse incident while in Phandu village Sidra daughter of Niamat Ullah was killed as a portion of the roof collapsed on her.

At least 25 people were injured in the rain-related incidents who were identified as Banaras son of Khan Saeed of Urmarh, Fauzia Bibi, daughter of Niamat Ullah of Phandu, Kulsoom daughter of Shahid of Urmarh, Kausar daughter of Zakir, Mehrun Nisa daughter of Faqir of Urmarh, Mahnoor and Naheed daughters of Faqir of Urmarh, Nausheen daughter of Noor Rehman of Urmarh, Salma daughter of Hazrat Nabi of Afghan Colony, Sana daughter of Ikram Khan, Abbas son of Taza Gul of Urmarh, Farman son of Ghaffar Ali of Jhagra, Hayat Khan son of Khan of Urmarh, Karim and Khalil sons of Taza Gul of Surizai Payan, Noor Khan son of Khan of Bara Road, Saeed son of Rohan of Urmarh Bala, Shahid son of Taza Gul of Surizai Payan, Shahid son of Faqir of Urmarh, Shaukat Ullah son of Khan Gul of Phandu Dheri, Sial Khan son of Qadir Khan of Surizai Payan, Usama of Jhagra, Zahid son of Zakir and Asma daughter of Shahid of Urmarh and Fatima from Urmarh.

Hospital sources said most of the patients were discharged after treatment.
