KARACHI: The on-going drive against profiteering and adulteration in the metropolis would be further intensified.
This was decided at a meeting presided over by Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Friday.
It was informed on the occasion that during the last month, 1,650 shopkeepers were challaned and a fine of Rs. 3.5 million was imposed on the shopkeepers for overcharging whereas 139 were sent to jail.
The Commissioner said that on the directive of the government, the crackdown against profiteers, adulterers was continuing.
He stated that the government is committed to provide every possible relief to the people and the Karachi administration is playing its due role in this regard.
