MIRPUR (AJK): At least four civilians including two women were martyred as a result of frequent unprovoked firing of Indian forces across the Line of Control (LoC).
Nine other residents including six women were seriously injured after firing of Indian forces in Nikayal sector of the Kotli district of Azad Jammu Kashmir during last 24 hours till Friday evening, police said.
Superintendent of Police Kotli, Chaudhry Muhammad Amin told APP that a 22 year old girl Rizwana Bibi embraced shahadat and six other identified as Rubina, Nairoze, Sobiya Bibi Kousar Begam, Atifa Bibi and Sardar Muhammad Farooq were injured grievously as a result of indiscriminate unprovoked shelling by the Indian troops on the forward villages including Balakot, Darooti, Naara, Lanjote, Kalanjer since Friday morning, he added.
The SP said, quoting the reports from the aforesaid Indian firing hit areas of Nikayal sector, that the Indian troops resorted to shelling without any provocation Friday morning and it was continuing till last reports came in.
The SP said that earlier three civilians were martyred and three others were injured as a result of the unprovoked Indian firing on the forward populous areas in Nikayal sector since Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Liyaba, Sufi Muhamamd Amin and Zahid all residents of Darooti village.
Those injured in earlier firing since Thursday night included Muhammad Afsar, Aiysha Bibi and Muhammad Nazir, all residents of Balakot.
All the injured were shifted to District Hospital Kotli where condition of four of them is stated to be critical.
