Sindh High Court Ban motorcycle-Qingqi rickshaws in Sindh


Karachi: Sindh High Court banned motorcycle- Qingqi richshaws in Sindh including Karachi after rejecting the stay order qingqi rickshaws acquired in 2014.

Sindh Transport department after announcing the motorcycle Qingqi Rickshaws as illegal banned the specific transport facility but this verdict was challenged by Qingqi Rickshaws Association. They filed a petition in the high court and acquired a stay order in 2014.

The petition had said that a private firm had introduced motorcycle rickshaws in Punjab in 2000 and motorcycle-rickshaws were allowed to operate in Sindh after the permission of the provincial transport authority.

The petitioner said that motorcycle-rickshaws were operating in the city, which facilitated low-income people.

After listening to the case, the Sindh high court announced the decision in favor of the Sindh Transport Department and called for a ban on the motor-cycle qinqgi Rickshaws today.

The SHC restricts the traffic police of the city to make sure the ban is observed.
