Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada killed in Attock suicide attack

WEBDESK:Chairman Hilal-e-Ahmer and Chief Advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister Dr. Saeed Ilahi has confirmed the death of the provincial Home Minister Col.(Retd) Shuja Khanzada.

According to sources, he said that Punjab Home Minister Col (R) Shuja Khanzada was among at least 10 people killed Sunday when a suicide bomber attacked the political office of the Home Minister in his native village of Attock DistrictKhanzada had received threats before, his family said.

However, no policemen were deployed outside his office in Attock.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah condemned Khanzada’s killing and said they will not rest until terrorism is eliminated. “The attack is an act of cowardice,” he added.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned the terrorist attack, while Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has also expressed condolences for the victims of the attack.

Nisar has directed for provision of a helicopter from the Interior Ministry for shifting the injured on emergency basis, while he has also instructed army and air force personnel to aid in the rescue operation.
