Pakistan wants peaceful resolution of all disputes with India but no compromise on principles: Pervaiz Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Friday that India has usurped the rights of Kashmiris and Pakistan believes in resolution of all disputes with India through peaceful means of talks but it would make no compromise on principles.

Talking to media persons after attending closing ceremony of a month-long summer camp on regional languages, here he said India cannot claim of a true champion of democracy with out granting Kashmiris their rights.

It was India which suspended the talks process in the past and now again it appears that it was running away from the dialogue process.

The minister said that “the ball (of talks) was now in Indian court and it remains to be seen whether it plays the game or runs away with the ball”.

He said it was regrettable that India has objected to the invitation given to Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders at a reception in Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.” India wants to dictate as to who should be included and excluded in the list of the guests. It is not ready to allow the Kashmiris to attend any function as guests. It is not a democratic but despotic attitude,” he added.

He said that India was afraid of Kashmiris presence at a reception in Pakistan High Commission. It has already deprived them of their democratic rights and committing unprecedented atrocities against them. He said if India does not allow the Kashmiris to attend the reception, it would become more clear to the world that India was usurping Kashmiris rights.

India was trying to compel Kashmiris to eat, dress and pray on its dictation which was unacceptable.

Holding talks on such terms was an indication that it was making lame excuses to run away from the dialogue process, he remarked. He said Pakistan has always tried to protect the rights of the people and India should also adopt realistic and democratic approach.

The minister said that Pakistan wants resumption of the talks process and the prime ministers of the two countries had decided that all disputed issues would be settled through talks process.

To a question about MQM he said that raids in Karachi were against criminals and not against any political party or leadership as politics and crimes were two different things. “People of Karachi have elected the MQM and we all respect their mandate”,he said adding that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Ishaq Dar and Opposition leader Khursheed Shah have requested them to withdraw their resignations and Maulana Fazalur Rehman was specially sent to Karachi for convincing MQM to return to the assemblies and Senate. “We want their return to the assemblies and Senate, and respect their difference of opinion like we respect PTI’s opinion”. He prayed for early recovery of MQM MNA Rashid Godil, who he said was a very good person.

He said that various terrorists and the terrorist organisations were the biggest threat to the prosperity stability of the country. However he said that Operation Zarb-e-Azb has broken their back as our Jawans and officers have given unprecedented sacrifices for making Pakistan a peaceful country.

Earlier while addressing the closing ceremony of the summer camp  organized to teach children Balochi and Wakhi languages he said that such camps were vital for promotion of national integration and pluralism in the country.

He said that the youth were future of the country and teaching them mother languages of other Pakistanis was a good investment in future. He said that learning other mother languages was a right step to strengthen national harmony.

The minister appreciated the new generation for learning regional languages as it would increase the sentiments of patriotism among the nation.

He lamented that in the past no such effort was done.
