One killed in terrorist attack on Giwani Airport

QUETTA: An official was martyrdom and another sustained injuries when terrorists attacked Giwani Airport in Gwadar district, here on Sunday.

A spokesman for Civil Aviation said that unknown armed men forcibly
entered Giwani Airport, targeted its radar system and opened indiscriminate fire at the officials.

“One Electronics Supervisor was killed and another received injuries,”
he added. The official said important installations of the civil aviation
at the airport were destroyed.

He said after destroying important installation the terrorists managed
to escape. The rescue teams shifted the dead and the injured to hospital. The dead was identified as Electronics Supervisor Khalid. While the injured Electronics Supervisor Altaf was shifted to Karachi in view of his critical condition.

The spokesman said that the airport hasd been non-functional for last
few years. “The VOR system which helps in landing of airplanes was also damaged in the attack,” he said.

The security forces rushed to the site and cordoned off the entire area and launched search operation to trace the suspects. The local Levies officials said that banned militant organization might be behind the attack.
