Motorcycle driving licence among women increasing

LAHORE: Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema observed on Wednesday that a trend of obtaining licences for motorcyles as well as cars was on the rise among women.

“During the year 2014, 4,976 women obtained driving licences while till May this year, 2,306 women have gotten licences,” he said adding, a total of 41,720 licences were issued to people till May 2015 as 85,603 ones sought fresh driving licenses during 2014.

The CTO told APP that a procedure for obtaining the driving licence had been made easier as driving testing centres are functioning at City Traffic Police Line, Thokar Niaz Baig, Arfa Karim IT Tower Ferozpur Road and Defence to facilitate people while a mobile testing unit was also working.

He said effective measures were being taken for smooth flow of traffic in the provincial metropolis. He said, steps were also taken for welfare of traffic officials.
