Khuhro hopes MQM resignations issue would be resolved amicably

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, has hoped that the matter pertaining to MQM assembly members’ resignation would be resolved amicably.

Talking to media on Wednesday, he pointed out that in first round of talks with chief of JUI-F Maulana Fazalur Rehman, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) adopted a positive approach.

Khuhro stated that the second round of talks in this regard would be held in Islamabad.

He expressed the hope that this matter would be resolved in an amicable manner.

Khuhro was of the view that the extreme step of resignation was not the solution to any problem and that the negotiations were the right approach.

He further maintained that extreme step would result in weakening the democratic institutions.

Khuhro said that in the aftermath of firing incident on MQM leader Rasheed Godil, continuation of talks by political parties was a wise move.

He stated that operation in Karachi was initiated after consultation with all the political parties including the MQM.

This operation, Khuhro added, would continue without any discrimination till the elimination of terrorism.

He was of the view that attack on political personalities was aimed at marring peace in the metropolis as some elements do not want to see improved political atmosphere.
