ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s Ijaz-ur-Rehman won the men’s singles of the Azadi Cup National Tenpin Bowling Championship held here at Leisure City Bowling Club Safa Gold Mall Jinnah Super.
The championship continued for 46 days in which players from Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Islamabad participated. The tournament was played on Singles, doubles, team, Amateur and deaf event format, says a press release issued here.
In Mens Single’s event final Ijaz got 1st position with total score of 408 out of 2 games and won RS 50,000 cash prize and trophy.
Zafar Iqbal from Islamabad with total score of 398 got 2nd position and won Rs 25,000 and trophy while Muhammad Chattha from Islamabad with score of 390, remained 3rd got trophy and Rs 15,000.
In Doubles category Ijaz and Ashiq Ali team dominated with score of 818 and remained at top in double event. Saleem Baig and Muhammad Hussian Chattha team with score of 797 remained second.
Ist team got gold medals along with Rs 20,000 while 2nd team got silver medal along with and Rs 10,000.
In deaf event, Qasim won the Azadi Cup by defeating Nasir Dar by 10 scores in the final round. In the final Qasim makes total 178 scores and wins gold medal while Nasir Dar remained at 168 and got silver medal.
General Secretary of Pakistan Tenpin Bowling Federation (PTBF) Ijaz appreciated youngsters who participated and showed their interest in bowling. He said that involvement of such a huge number of youngsters in this game proves that the bowling game is getting popularity day by day in Pakistan.
Chief Guest Ch. Muhammad Ijaz Federal Secretary Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) said while talking at closing ceremony said that “bowling is a good game and we will completely support PTBF in their efforts to promote the game.”
