I am not impressed with Virat Kohli’s batting: Ahmed Shehzad

ISLAMABAD: Test Opener Ahmed Shehzad said he was not impressed with the batting of Indian batsman Virat Kohli and had always tried to improve his own batting while overcoming his shortcomings.

“Neither I follow any other international cricketer nor like to be compared with anyone,” Shehzad said while talking to a TV channel, adding, he had always focused on his own performance and tried to improve the same.

The opener said he went to crease with positive frame of mind and could definitely improve his strike rate with the passage of time.

“When I came from under 19 I had a lot of flair. But as you play more and understand cricket you need to suppress high risk cricket for the betterment of the team,” he mentioned.

Shehzad said he still could play a lot of cricket and want to make his name and special place in national cricket.

“I want to represent Pakistan in all three formats of the game, however, to play 100 Tests is my dream,” he underlined.

He further said unless one start enjoying playing cricket, he could not improve his performance.

The dashing batsman lauded T20 skipper Shahid Khan Afridi saying that Afridi had always treated him as a brother and he had learned a lot from ‘Lala’.

He said he had always tried to help out youngsters in their times of struggle.

Replying to a question, Shehzad also lauded the services of Test batsman and former captain Younis Khan and said he was not only a great player but a great person too.

He said those who say that he only score against weak oppositions should remember that he had scored a century against South Africa in their home when he was 22 years old.

“I also scored a century against Australia in my first test series against them,” he mentioned.
