ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Thursday said that constitutional and legal experts would be consulted on the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) members resignations issue.
Talking to media outside the Parliament House after meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif chief of JUI said, “I will consult the constitutional experts whether there is a room in the law and constitution for withdrawal of the resignations.”
He said after the legal opinion, the future course of action would be chalked out on the issue. Fazlur Rehman said that he has been assigned to contact the leadership of MQM to convince them to withdraw their resignations.
However, he expressed the hope that the issue would be solved amicably and efforts would be made to avoid political crises in the country and handle the issue in a better way.
He said Altaf Hussain in his recent statements said that he had respect for the state institutions and wanted durable peace in Karachi. He said Altaf Hussain had also no objection on action against criminal elements and these statements are very encouraging.
