ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar has said the collective efforts should be made to confront challenges of terrorism, energy and economy.
“Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should play its due role for the development and prosperity of the country instead of politicking over non- issues like supporting traders strike,” he said talking to a news channel.
The minister said PTI had wasted five months during sit-in at D-Chowk as its workers attacked the national institutions as well.
To a question, he said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to withdraw their motion against PTI. “If they bring motion in the parliament for voting on Tuesday then PML-N will vote against it.”
Ishaq Dar said, the government wanted that PTI members should remain in the parliament and play their positive role for the country. According to agreement, PTI assured that if the General Election Inquiry Commission (GEIC) gives the verdict against them (PTI), they will rejoin the parliament, he added.
Replying to another question, he said MQM Chief Altaf Hussain should have not incited his people to seek help from NATO and others to support him in Karachi.
Commenting on traders strike on August 05, he said,”it is golden opportunity for traders to address their issues and we would resolve them. He asked them not to strike as it will affect the national economy.”
He urged traders to contribute to strengthen the national economy despite holding protest demonstrations.
