Zardari chairs meeting following arrest warrant of two senior leaders

KARACHI: PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has called a meeting of the party’s top leadership to discuss the consequences of the arrest warrants.

Meanwhile senior leader Khursheed Shah has said that any arrests made will result in ‘an all-out war’.

An arrest warrant for former PM Yousuf Raza Gilani and Makhdum Amin Fahim has been issued by the federal anti-corruption court on Thursday.

The order was issued after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented a challan of 12 cases registered against the senior PPP leader and former Prime Minister.

Earlier the court summoned the two in court but it was ignored. The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant after accepting the challan by FIA in today’s hearing and directed the police to arrest them and present then in front of the court in the next hearing on September 9.

Makhdum Amin Fahim is being treated for cancer abroad and is not present in the country at the moment.
