Al Qaeda commander, accomplice killed in Karachi

KARACHI: An al Qaeda commander along with his accomplice was killed during a targeted action by Rangers, Police and intelligence agencies, here on Tuesday.

According to intelligence sources, the operation was conducted after receiving information about the presence of al Qaeda commander Ahad in13-D Block, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Terrorists opened fire when their flat was raided after an exchange of fire two terrorists were killed, while one personnel of the intelligence agencies was martyred.

Intelligence agencies have traced the owner of the flat, identified as Anwar, who is former head of the apartment building union.

Sources further said that the terrorists were planning a major terror attack in Karachi.

Firearms and objectionable religious literature were also recovered from terrorists’ possession during the operation. A woman, who was present at the terrorists’ flat, has also been arrested for interrogations.
