ISLAMABAD: Urdu will now be the official language, states a notification issued by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharrif. The government has submitted a report in the Supreme Court, Aaj News reported.
A three member bench presided by Justice Jawad Khawaja heard the case. Justice Jawad said that even after 70 years Pakistanis had a colonial mindset.
The information secretary said that the Prime Minister had directed all federal departments to translate their 3-month policies into Urdu.
According to the new notification all sign boards will be in Urdu and English. Moreover, all utility bills will also be published in Urdu.
All government websites will be written in Urdu. All government functions will be conducted in Urdu.
When the PM or President visits a foreign country he will have to deliver his speech in Urdu.
