The rupee managed to resist losses versus the dollar on the money market on Tuesday in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee somehow held the overnight levels in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.78 and Rs 101.80 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee recovered 10-paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.65 and Rs 102.85 respectively, they said. The national currency also picked up 75-paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 112.00 and Rs 113.00, respectively, they said.
In the second Asian trade, the euro slipped in Asian trading on Tuesday, but remained well off lows touched in the previous session ahead of a euro zone summit that investors hope might offer a way for Greece to climb out of its debt crisis and stay in the common currency.
The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.38, the greenback was at 3.8050 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.2093 against the Chinese yuan. RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee remained unchanged on buying side while it lost 10 paisas in relation to the greenback on the local currency market on Tuesday.
The dollar resumed trading at its day earlier closing of Rs 102.75 and Rs 103.00 as its buying and selling rate, respectively, failing to see any change in its buying rate as it was traded at Rs 102.75 on buying counter while it was improved to Rs 103.10 on selling counter.
The rupee maintained an upward slide for the second day and improved against the pound sterling that was traded at Rs 159.90 and Rs 159.25 on buying and selling side compared with the Monday closing of Rs 159.25 and Rs 159.50.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value.
