Steadier trend was witnessed on the money market on Friday as the rupee almost managed to sustain overnight levels versus the dollar in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee inched up by one paisa in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.74 and Rs 101.76 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee, however, shed 10-paisa in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 103.00 and Rs 103.20 respectively, they said. It dropped by 50-paisa against the euro for buying and selling at Rs 114.00 and Rs 115.00 respectively, they said.
In the final Asian trade, the dollar stuck around the previous session’s levels in Asian trading, as disappointing US employment data and caution ahead of Greece’s referendum on bailout conditions kept the market mood subdued. Against its Japanese counterpart, the dollar was buying 123.08 yen, nearly flat on the day and up from a session low of 122.81 yen. The greenback was holding well above a five-week low of 121.93 hit on Tuesday. The euro edged up about 0.1 percent to 136.55 yen, and also gained about 0.1 percent against its US counterpart, to $1.1093. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.39, the greenback was at 3.7830 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.2056 in terms of the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged amid a low trading activity on the local currency market on Friday.
The dollar hardly saw any change in its demand and supply situation helping the rupee stability. The dollar was traded at its day earlier closing of Rs 102.70 and Rs 102.95 on buying and selling side, respectively. The rupee remained under pressure and lost 15 paisas against the pound sterling for buying and selling at Rs 159.65 and Rs 159.90 compared with the overnight closing of Rs. 159.50 and Rs. 159.75.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
