ISLAMABAD: In a meeting presided by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and parliamentary leaders the findings of the judicial commission on rigging in elections was accepted, Aaj News reported.
During the meeting JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said it is unconstitutional for PTI members to remain in Parliament and their resignations should be accepted at all costs.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar briefed the meeting on developments in the electoral reforms process. He said that all suggestions of opposition leaders had been accepted.
The three-member judicial commission released its final report, rejecting claims by the Imran Khan-led PTI that the 2013 general elections were rigged and saying the polls were largely fair and in accordance with the law.
Following the release of the report the JUI-F and MQM moved motions in the National Assembly which sought to declare seats of PTI members who were absent from the house during the Islamabad sit-in as vacant.
However the motions have not been accepted and the decision is under consideration.
