ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday said Pakistan attaches the highest importance to its relations with Afghanistan and was constructively engaged with the Afghan leadership to rebuild mutual trust and understanding.
The President was talking to Ambassador of Afghanistan in Pakistan Janan Mosazai who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, said a press release.
Mamnoon Hussain lauded the vision and wisdom of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani under whose leadership bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries had improved significantly.
He also expressed his satisfaction over the joint efforts of the two countries to eliminate terrorism.
The President underscored the need for greater exchange of visits and interaction among the Ulema, parliamentarians, students and particularly women delegations to create further goodwill and understanding between the people of two brotherly countries.
The Afghan ambassador said that his country’s relations with Pakistan were on the right track due to the vision, dedication and seriousness of the leadership of the two countries.
He expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s facilitative role in the ongoing peace talks between the Afghan government and Taliban.
Janan Mosazai also appreciated Pakistan’s role in hosting and looking after large number of Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
