PESHAWAR: Despite being denied an election ticket, a candidate for general counselor emerged victorious, Aaj News reported.
The returning officer accepted that he had rejected the candidate’s papers by mistake. Calling the returning officer incapable of doing his job, the election commission agreed to the election results.
A four-member bench heard the case under the supervision of Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza.
The candidate for general counselor Anwar Bacha said that the returning officer had rejected his election papers. On the election morning people in the neighbourhood said that his name had appeared on the candidate list.
Bacha said that he contested the elections and won them.
He said that after discovering his mistake, the returning officer instead of admitting his mistake, threatened Bacha with an FIR.
However, the bench accepted the election results and declared Bacha the winner of the elections.
