ISLAMABAD: There are 278 Pakistani prisoners languishing in Indian jails, and 403 Indian prisoners languishing in Pakistani jails, Aaj News reported.
Lists of the names of Indian prisoners have been exchanged with the Indian High Commissioner, said the Foreign Office spokesperson.
Among the 403 Indian prisoners, 48 are civilians and the rest are young fishermen.
Meanwhile, India has also handed over the list of 278 Pakistani prisoner to the Pakistan High Commission. Of the prisoner languishing in Indian jails- 251 are civilians and the rest are fishermen.
India and Pakistan exchange prisoners twice a year on January 1 and July 1. Many of the prisoners exchanged are fisherman who get lost in the sea and cross borders.
