KARACHI: The Karachiites late Saturday night faced another long duration power outage as a big part of the city plunged into darkness owing to tripping of the 220 KV transmission line near Pipri due to enhanced humidity.
As a result 12 out of the 64 feeders in the metropolis tripped affecting power supply to some 24 per cent of the city, a spokesman of the K-Electric said on Sunday.
He maintained that by Sunday morning the electricity in Karachi was restored. There were some electricity faults in the city which were being attended to.
The KE spokesman claimed that some 300 MW less power was supplied by the NTDC and this shortage would be overcome by Sunday evening.
Parts of Karachi plunged into darkness by midnight but according to the KE spokesman the power was restored by 3 pm. However, there was yet another power outage and the electricity was restored on Sunday morning.
The people in parts of Karachi faced inconveniences in the wake of power outages.
