ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Saturday formally announced to accept findings of the General Election Inquiry Commission (GEIC).
Addressing a news conference here, he said he had stated well before the start of proceedings of the commission that PTI would accept its decision and “I stand by my words and I accept it.”
He was all praise for Chief Justice Nasir ul Mulk, who headed the GEIC, for conducting proceedings of the commission in a remarkable way, saying “I am proud of him.”
The chief justice, he said, thoroughly deliberated on every aspect of the points put before the commission, which was very encouraging for the PTI.
Because of this, Imran said, he had great expectations from the commission but in the end he was disappointed as the proceedings could be further prolonged to expand purview of the report.
However, he said, members of the Election Commission should resign after the Inquiry Commission pointed out their lapses, shortcomings and incapacity in its report.
The PTI Chairman said the report would help strengthen the democratic process in the country and added that he would play a role of a strong opposition.
